Prepare your skin: moisturize with a fragrance-free lotion. Eat well, hydrate, and rest. Avoid alcohol; it thins blood and increases pain sensitivity. Avoid direct sunlight; it can damage your skin. Avoid activities that could injure your skin. Inform us if your skin gets damaged or sunburnt before the appointment.
Post-tattoo care is key. Follow these steps: - Eat well, drink water, and rest. - Avoid alcohol; it thins blood and affects healing. - Avoid direct sunlight; it can damage your tattoo. For detailed aftercare, see our FAQ on aftercare advice.
Aftercare is crucial. Here's what we recommend: - If you have a clingfilm dressing, remove it in 2-3 hours. - If you have a second skin dressing, remove it in 2-3 days (best done in the shower). - Gently clean the tattoo with warm water and non-scented soap. - Pat dry with a clean towel. - Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream (TatJam, Ink Doctor, or fragrance-free cocoa butter) 2-3 times a day until healed (2-3 weeks). Avoid alcohol and direct sunlight during the healing process. Both can damage your tattoo and affect healing.
